Editorial standards and what we do not cover
DownloadAPK is a security-first Android publication. The editorial scope is intentionally narrow and is built around four verifiable categories:
- F-Droid and verified open-source app sources.
- Custom ROMs from established distributions (LineageOS, GrapheneOS, /e/OS).
- ADB and developer tools for legitimate purposes (backup, debugging, automation).
- Mobile privacy hardening guides (DNS, VPN, telemetry minimization, app sandboxing).
Cracked APKs, modded paid software, region-bypass for paid content, and any source whose legitimacy we cannot verify fall outside the scope of this magazine. We refuse those topics on principle, not on case-by-case judgment.
Affiliate and review disclosure
Some reviews carry affiliate or referral links toward audited VPN providers and security-focused apps. Whenever a link of this type is used, the article carries an inline disclosure. Affiliate revenue does not change the verdict: when a product fails our criteria we publish the negative review, even if a referral relationship exists.
Site ownership and operator
DownloadAPK is operated by Augustin Foucheres as an independent editorial project. The domain has been online since 2016 and the security-first editorial direction was set in May 2026. For editorial questions, content takedown, or correction requests, write to [email protected].
Hosting
Pages are delivered through Cloudflare Pages, a service of Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, California 94107, United States). The standard edge functions log technical metadata such as IP address, request timestamps, and user agent. Cloudflare's own data handling is covered by its privacy policy.
Author and pseudonym transparency
Articles are signed under stable pen-names (DA Editorial Team, Marcus Fielding, Nora Andersen). These names refer to a small editorial collective rather than to legal identities. The pseudonyms are kept consistent so a reader can track a reviewer across pieces; editorial accountability flows through the address above.
Cookies and analytics
Traffic is measured using a first-party counter only. No third-party advertising cookie is set, no behavioral profile is built, and no marketing identifier is shared across vendors. Visitors are not followed across sessions for advertising purposes.
Data requests and updates
Requests to access, correct, or erase personal data should be addressed to [email protected]. We commit to a response within one week. This page is reviewed when editorial scope, hosting, or contact channels change.
